August 15th (Saturday) until August 22nd (Saturday)
In this workshop we will have the chance to experience three different hand-building techniques. The aim is to get to know the ceramic field and its variety, moreover we will get the opportunity to enrich our vocabulary which will provide us the freedom to express ourselves more accurately.
The whole process of producing an object made of clay has different stages that will be followed during the week.
The workshop is open to all.
The different techniques that we are going to use are slabs, coils and lumps.
examples of the three techniques
After experiencing these three techniques we will transform any artwork into clay.
We will choose one artwork from any of the following fields: photography, panting, sculpture, music, dance, movie and poetry.
We will use it as an inspiration for our private creation, which we will develop according to our personal style and our personal interpretation.
An important and integral part of producing an object made of clay is the firing. Each object made of clay will be fired twice. After the first firing we will use different materials and techniques to colour the object. We will use oxides, pigments, smoke, glazes and under-glazes. Then we will fire it again and each participant will have his own piece of art.
