Ula Dajerling was born in 1980 in Poznan, Poland and currently is based in London.
Dajerling works within the field of installation as a form allowing her to focus specifically on the symbiotic and dialogic interactions between body, object and space. Through a juxtaposition of the familiar and the symbolic, image and form are utilised in order to disrupt the aesthetic/synesthetic expectations of the viewer.
Utilising a visual language that is constructed around the intersections of culture and nature Dajerling aims to present work that communicates independently to the viewer through encounters that negotiate ideas of the ‘uncanny’ and the ‘formless'.
In 2010 Ula has been awarded Cecil Lewis Sculpture Scholarship and Special Project Award from The Chelsea Arts Trust towards her postgraduate research at Chelsea College of Art and Design. Her work focuses on the notion of transformation of material and space within a sculptural environment. She has exhibited in the UK, and also internationally, with organizations including Bbeyond (Belfast), Plymouth Arts Centre and Center of Culture Zamek (Poland). Her work has been reviewed in Circa Magazine, A-N Interface and other publications.
